North Mills River Recreation Area is a secluded jewel for camping in NC. Each campsite is only a short stroll from the swift, cool, shallow waters of North Mills River. Swim, tube, or fish for Rainbow, Brook and Brown Trout in a beautiful, forested setting. Within 30 minutes you will find downtown Asheville, NC and Hendersonville. In this area, hiking, camping, fishing and biking are the summer activities of choice!

Other campgrounds in the area include Davidson River and Lake Powhatan.  If you’re looking for outstanding hiking and mountain biking, look no further than North Mills River.

In-Season Facilities

March 24th - November 15th

  • 26 reservable standard sites, plus one site with full hookup

  • Picnic tables, tent pads & fire rings

  • Hot showers and flush toilets in bathhouses

November 16th- March 25th

  • 12 First Come, First Serve standard sites

  • Reservations are not accepted

  • Group campsites are unavailable during the winter

  • Potable water is NOT available- no showers or flush toilets

  • Pit Toilet

  • Dump Station

  • Picnic tables, tent pads & fire rings

Day Use Info

  • Day use parking: $5 per vehicle

  • Annual day use pass: $30 per vehicle. Annual pass is good for one year from date of purchase.

Camping Fees

  • Single Sites: $28 (Maximum Occupancy of 8 persons & 2 cars)

  • One Site with Full Hookups: $40 (first come, first serve basis)

  • Double Sites: $56 (Maximum Occupancy of 16 persons & 4 cars)

  • Limited Winter Sites: $14 (pit toilets only)

  • Small Group Campsites: $40
